The Carlton Yoga Collective is a passionate collective of yoga teachers overseen by Lianne Metcalf.
Our small home studio strays from the crowded mainstream in that we focus on small classes (max ten people) to provide individualised assistance and adjustments to participants.
Regardless of whether you are new to yoga or experienced, our classes will provide attention and support to further your yoga.
What yoga do we do?
SomaChi is a dynamic flow yoga created from Vinyasa flow, Somatic movement and Tai-Chi.
The transitions concentrate on fluid movements that not only create enjoyment in motion but also support the joints and muscles.
When experience matters
Lianne has been teaching for more than 25 years and training people to become yoga teachers for the last 15 years. She also has a 30-year background in Somatic psychotherapy that aided the development of the studio’s principle style, SomaChi. She brings these years of expertise to the yoga class.
Beginners Course: New dates to be announced for 6 weeks Cost: $110
Week 1. You are your breath – looking at how you breath and how it causes vitality through your body. Basic postures will be introduced.
Week 2. You are your body – Examining the effects of breath on your central nervous system, and how this affects your joints in movement, including your spine.
Week 3. You are your mind – Intention impacts directly through your body which enhances the essence of how you move into yogic postures. We will use sensory applications in learning new moves.
Week 4. Moving with mind – Introduction to meditation and how to implement the effects into the physical postures.
Week 5. Integration of breath, body and mind. When we have insight we can use yoga as medicine to help with mind-body integration for relief of stress, better alignment, and a deeper sense of self.
Week 6. Compiling what we’ve learnt for a greater sense of moving in everyday life, on and beyond the yoga mat.

Lianne Founded SomaChi yoga. She is a 500hr instructor and has an adv dip in Somatic Integration Therapy and Zapchen Somatics which is a combination of Buddhist and Western Body Psychotherapy for wellbeing.
Lianne has been teaching for 25+ years and has been running Yoga Teacher Training for the since 2004 and is excited to be offering adjustment workshops at the CYC for teachers.
Vic brings creativity and dynamic expressions to her classes with her experience as an athlete and a fashion designer. She wants to share the practice of SomaChi and hopes to encourage and inspire others to experience and enjoy the benefits of yoga.
She has 300hr training in SomaChi and has assisted Lianne in 70 hours of immersive training in yoga and SomaChi Buddhist lineage.
